The word in the beauty industry is "Skinmalism." Never heard that term before I started researching this summer’s focus on skin and scalp hydration. Skinmalism means “skin flooding,” or upstream watercare. People are shifting toward multitasking products, ingredient-led moisture repair, and hard-water filtration to preserve scalp and skin health.
Skin Hydration Trends
Skinimalism & Multi-Use Mists: Consumers are moving away from complex 10-step routines, opting for multi-use mists that work on the face, body, and scalp to instantly boost hydration.
You can explore lightweight mists with Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Hydrator Mist, $47; Ulta Beauty.

But as a big fan of everything Charlotte Tilbury, I also had the pleasure of playing with Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Water Cream. A lightweight, fragrance-free gel moisturizer designed to instantly revive thirsty, dehydrated skin. Powered by niacinamide, peptides and water-lock technology, the formula helps smooth, plump and balance skin while delivering long-lasting hydration and a fresh, healthy-looking glow. $105.00; Sephora.com
Skin Flooding: This technique involves layering products from thinnest (mists) to thickest (moisturizers) onto damp skin to maximize moisture retention and prevent trans-epidermal water loss.

Try Doll Skin Genius Reishi Renewing Mushroom Milk, $44; Ulta Beauty. Or my favorite, Kiehl’s x Milk Bar Collaboration. Inspired by Kiehl’s most beloved products and the bakery’s iconic treats, this delectable drop features Creme de Corps Cereal Milk Soft Serve Smoothing Oil-to-Foam Cleanser and three Lip Balm #1 flavors – Cereal Milk Frozen Swirl, Buttercream Birthday Cake, and Red Velvet Truffle – each bursting with rich, dessert-inspired aromas. $57; Kiehls.com.
Lip Treatment: Whether you have full lips or not, Neutrogena’s Collagen Bank Lip Plumping Treatment could be a great addition to your daily skincare routine. My friend, who just turned 30, has very full lips, so most would say she doesn’t need a collagen lip treatment product. But after reading up on the matter, she discovered that after the age of 20, we lose 1% of collagen per year.

She, of course, would like to keep her lips full, defined, and smooth, so she started including collagen in her routine. Neutrogena's Collagen Bank Lip Plumping Treatment contains Hyaluronic Acid, which attracts moisture, as well as Patented Micro-Peptide Technology, which is twice smaller than popular anti-aging peptides for better absorption.
This product does not contain parabens, phthalates, dyes, alcohol, or gluten. There is no stinging or burning sensation at all. It feels like a normal, moisturizing lip product. A great buy at $17.99. Ulta.
Body Milks: The "milky" texture trend—originally for toners—has taken over body care. These fluid, non-greasy milks deliver deep moisture that absorbs quickly, making them ideal for South Florida's humid climate. Another great face milky toner: Iconic London’s Underglow Matcha Glazing Milky Toner, $27; Ulta Beauty

And for body care, try Cylar’s Ceramide Milky Essence for Full-Body Hydration ($30); Sephora.
SPF Moisturizer Sunscreens: Neutrogena’s Collagen Bank SPF Moisturizer Sunscreen is a lightweight, anti-aging face cream with SPF 30. It is made with a patented micro-peptide technology for glowing, smooth, youthful skin; $29.99. Ulta.com.

Dermatologists are seeing high demand for topical ingredients like PDRN (often sourced from salmon) and exosomes, which are making the leap from clinical treatments to everyday creams to support hydration and skin repair.
Of all the skincare products I tried, the one my skin is becoming addicted to is Skinbetter Science Ampra Volumizing Macro HA Serum.

This silky, milky-textured treatment is designed to restore structure and lift. Unlike typical hyaluronic acid products that focus on molecular weight, Ampra harnesses HYASYNC technology, Hyluronidase, regenerative aesthetics, and biostimulators to target sagging and flattening, resulting in a more youthful, contoured look. $180.00 (1 fl. oz); skinbetter.com.
Hair Hydration Trends
Upstream Water Filtering: Hard water and chlorine cause significant damage and dryness. Consumers are investing in specialized showerheads designed to remove contaminants before they strip hair and skin of their natural moisture.
Scalp Care is the New Hair Care: Modern hair trends shift focus to the scalp. Formulas enriched with amino acids, batana oil, and Capixyl are popular for nourishing the scalp and hydrating roots. Here are some great products I tried:

The new Redken All Soft All-in Mask delivers intense moisture, softness , and shine—all in one. The mask provides up to 96 hours of moisture, softness, and shine, delivers 12x more moisture, helps reduce frizz for up to 72 hours, and leaves hair looking healthier and visibly revived—making it a high-performance addition to any haircare routine for beach-hair-craving hydration. $38; Ulta.com.
If you have color-treated hair, try Pureology Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner. After only one week of using it, I noticed it had revived my color-treated hair. Formulated with jojoba, green tea, and sage, this ultra-moisturizing duo gently cleanses while delivering intense hydration and softness, helping to restore manageability and leave hair looking healthy, shiny, and vibrant. $68 (or $38 each); Pureology.com.

You can also transform your hair routine with Mizani 25 Miracle Milk Leave-In Conditioner. This cult-favorite, lightweight spray provides 25 benefits in one, including hydration, detangling, heat protection, frizz control, and added shine. Suitable for all hair textures, it nourishes and protects while enhancing softness and manageability without weighing hair down. $28; Mizani.com
Infuse dehydrated, dry hair with the Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner Bundle. Enriched with argan oil, Vitamins A and E, and moisturizing red algae, this set is gentle enough for daily use and provides optimal hydration for both normal and color-treated hair. $60; Moroccanoil.com.

Also try the Moroccanoil Treatment Mist, a feather-light, dry-oil spray that delivers effortless shine, hydration, and manageability for all hair types. $50; Moroccanoil.com.

Reports coming out from the beauty industry show that users are taking a holistic approach, adding marine collagen and hyaluronic acid powders to their daily diets to promote internal skin elasticity and well-hydrated hair follicles. You can check out options like MDhair Marine Collagen.
All the products I tried are wonderful, but the biggest skin and hair care trends of 2026 have us going back to basics. Hydration, hydration, hydration. Which, in turn, brings us back to a simple truth: effective skin and hair care are rooted in simple, straightforward, ingredient-focused skin-care products at accessible price points.
Most beauty brands today are focused on delivering gentler yet more powerful formulas featuring gold-standard ingredients like retinol and vitamin C.
“Technology is reinforcing good habits, as opposed to people just adapting the hottest trend,” says Jacqueline Greb Goldminz, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Ditto, I say.
